The co-creator of Call of Duty, the mind behind the immensely successful video game Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in California he was 55 years old.

The tragic news was announced by Electronic Arts, the publisher that controls Respawn Entertainment, a game studio he co-founded.

The renowned game designer passed away following his automobile collided and was engulfed in flames on a highway in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, US media outlets report.

"We are facing a heartbreaking loss, and our deepest sympathies go to his family and friends, his family, and everyone impacted by his creative vision," an official with Electronic Arts commented.
