The President Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Military Members to White House

President Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He mentioned that he contacted her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.

Presidential Offer

The president said he’s discussed a White House visit for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” Trump addressed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, no matter the outcome.”

Community Reaction

Mourners came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support law enforcement in DC.

Remembering the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators hoped for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the leader of her previous school, told the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Service details for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Government Adjustments

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy caused the government to pause asylum processing and halt issuing visas to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s leader Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general the attorney general informed a news show that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with excellence, per the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had bravery,” he told the audience at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to endure.”
