The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG
The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership has been formed to develop a tabletop RPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
"This project will bring the franchise’s distinctive tension, tactical intensity, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, offering fans a new way to engage with The Division through immersive storytelling and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.
Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and several premium versions.
Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World
In this universe, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, plunging the United States into chaos. As the pandemic escalates, civil order breaks down and hostile groups rise, transforming the city into a battlefield. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of sleeper agents. That’s where the agents come in.
Development on the game has been in progress for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The forthcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a wider audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin right after the campaign, with deliveries expected for later in 2026.
A Streamlined Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System
An early look at the game's rules reveals it employs 10-sided dice predominantly through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic approach. Agents use abilities to roll small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.
- Rather than adding results together, players select a single “resolution die” from the pool.
- This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
- Achieving a natural 10 grants additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.
Combat Focus On Positioning and Awareness
Fights prioritize placement and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility have a direct impact dice rolls. This mechanic is designed to favor coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.
A Novel Wound System
The way injuries is managed adds a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a injury limit; taking heavy hits reduces their effectiveness by lowering the size of their dice pool.
- At critical condition, an operative is downed, but is not knocked out.
- They may still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the last stand seen in video game shooters.
- Any player in this state must consult a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.
An Introductory Adventure
A free Quickstart Guide will be released soon. It includes a pre-made starting adventure called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players spearhead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have seized control of that NYC neighborhood. More specifics and the complete product lineup will be unveiled closer to the campaign launch.
