Soccer Analyst Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts
The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the international break, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus AI, fans and a variety of guests.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is out on Friday.
Football and Family Life
Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a charity game the other evening for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my career to do it properly again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."
Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I won't push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend soccer team," he added.
"I watched my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a while too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is probably where I get it from. He coached our team for several years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea might have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both back fit.
In my opinion this game will be quite tight, however. The Clarets are well organised and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This smells of a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
Olly's pick: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.
On the other hand, West Ham won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.
The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's manager.
Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under Nuno, or the home side bouncing back?
I am going to go with the Cherries, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a blip.
The pundit's forecast: 2-0
The guest's prediction: The home team are doing well but West Ham have improved under Nuno. 2-2
AI's pick: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the favourites for the drop before the season started, but they have impressed a several people under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four matches.
My son advised me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I ignored the advice.
Thiago will probably find the net again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the counter-attack but I feel the home manager's team pose much more of a danger.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it actually turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
It is a huge fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
Fulham have got plenty of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.
Their performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to support the visitors here, because they are clearly capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated the Blues at the end of last month.
However I am not choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and additionally that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
This is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten games in every tournament, but might they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
