Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold Could Return to Face His Former Club in Upcoming Champions League Clash
The Spanish giants acquired Trent Alexander-Arnold on a long-term contract
Trent Alexander-Arnold's recovery is advancing well, giving possibility that the Real Madrid right-back could return in time to confront his old team Liverpool in the upcoming European tie.
The English player suffered a muscle problem during a match against French club Marseille in the initial phase of the tournament on 16 September.
Alexander-Arnold had to leave the pitch in the fifth minute, with initial reports pointing to a possible layoff of around a month and a half.
Real Madrid will travel to visit Liverpool on 4 November for the European match—just over a month since the incident happened.
Sources close to the player's condition indicate that the player's recovery is advancing well, and there is hope that Alexander-Arnold might achieve his first appearance to Liverpool's stadium since joining Real Madrid in June.
A longtime Liverpool supporter, Alexander-Arnold previously stated that leaving the club he entered as a six-year-old youth talent was the "most difficult decision he's ever made."
During his tenure with the Merseyside club, Alexander-Arnold made 354 appearances, helping claim two English top-flight titles, a European Cup, and the FA Cup.
After moving to the Spanish capital, Alexander-Arnold has featured five times in all competitions, logging over two and a half hours of game time.
