Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
