Followers Demand Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the pop star are demanding that a man who leaped a fence and touched the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the individual from Australia bypassing camera operators and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a promenade surrounded by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "released after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram account features recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen posted of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Past Trauma
Many followers criticized Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a devastating incident at the finale of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said a further response on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Event Details
In clips circulating online, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Many of fans had assembled in a sea of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the popular stage musical Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two very different sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned ten Oscar nominations, winning a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
